Women to discuss getting started in wine business

 Thursday is the deadline for women who are interested in breaking into the wine business to register to attend a panel discussion.

The discussion, "Women in the Wine Business," is being sponsored by Women for WineSense from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at the Lodge at Woodcliff, 199 Woodcliff Drive, Perinton.

The evening will include networking, wine and light hors d'oeuvres. A cash bar will be available.


Speakers will be Andrea Bornheim, owner of the Rochester Wine School; Gretchen Geiger, New York state wine manager for Southern Wine & Spirits of America, a distributor; Pamela Goddard, a writer for Finger Lakes Wine Gazette; Nancy Irelan, owner of Red Tail Ridge Winery in Penn Yan and The Answer Grape, a vineyard and winery technical consulting company; Laura Kudla, a wine judge and owner of MadderLake Cafe in Geneva; Ann Martini, owner of Anthony Road Wine Co. in Penn Yan; Nancy Tisch, owner of Bet the Farm, a winery and store in Aurora; and Paula Valeri, owner of BDL Wines, a distributor.


Topics will include breaking into the wine business and overcoming hurdles.

The fee is $40, $40 for non-members and a companion, $30 for members. Payment is required in advance by credit card or check and is non-refundable.
