OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The House has approved a measure that would require truth in advertising on Washington wine.
The measure passed on a 95-0 vote and now heads to the Senate for consideration. Under the bill, if a wine label claims it's from Washington, at least 95 percent of the grapes used in the production of the wine must have been grown in Washington.
Under current rules, the liquor control board allows a wine to be labeled with a note of its origin if at least 75 percent of its volume is derived from both fruit or other agricultural products grown in the place or region indicated.

The wine label bill is House Bill 1812.
