Walgreens might once again put beer and wine on shelves

Walgreen Co. executives are considering selling booze at its drugstores after phasing out beer and wine at all but a few hundred stores in the 1990s. Walgreen, faced with tough competition, is reconsidering its decision that beer and wine made too little profit and cost too much of management's time. "We are looking at whether it has the potential to be a traffic driver, but we don't have specific plans to announce now," a Walgreen spokesman said Thursday. Sandra Guy
