Washington Wine Label Bill in Olympia

By Dana Cowley  2009-3-6 22:53:22

Current law allows wines with Washington labels to have 75% of the grapes grown in the state, this new bill ups that requirement to 95%. The law is aimed at helping Washington wineries market their bottles to other states.

The house already unanimously passed it and it's expected to become law. The bill was introduced by former representative Dan Newhouse, a Republican from Sunnyside. He's now the state Secretary of Agriculture.
