The day of wine and cupcakes

How do you turn an iron chef into a fluffy cupcake? Head to Fratello's on Water St. at 6 p.m. Monday to find out.

It's the scene of "Iron Cupcake," a cooking contest focused on cupcakes. Similar to some cooking shows, contestants are challenged to whip up confectionary delights tied to a theme.

This session's theme is wine, and the evening will include a wine tasting and prizes. Those who want to compete - and anyone can - must preregister. The "judging" is done by anyone inside the restaurant.

The event is free - including cupcake tastings. Fratello's is at 102 N. Water St. in the Historic Third Ward.
