Ernest And Julio Gallo Winery Suing Over Pasta
A California winery is picking a food fight with a small grocery store in Seattle. The Ernest And Julio Gallo Winery is going after the store over noodles.
The Spanish Table is a specialty foods store selling a variety of imports including a Spanish pasta called Gallo. It's pronounced 'Guy-Oh' meaning rooster in Spanish.
Now the Gallo winery is suing after the store refused to stop selling the pasta.
"It is spelled the same as Gallo but there is no relation to the Gallo wine company," said Spanish Table store owner Sharon Baden. "We just thought it was ridiculous. First of all, why not contact the company in Spain who is the producer, we're just the retailer."
The Gallo winery says it's trying to protect the image of it's brand which it says is known and recognized around the world.
