Foster's to sell Baileys

THE Baileys of Glenrowan winery and vineyards will soon be up for sale.

The sale of Baileys, owned by beverage giant Foster's, is the result of Fosters' review of its wine division.

Baileys was established in Glenrowan in 1870, and is a truly iconic winery, according to Foster's chief executive Ian Johnston.

"However, as a small part of our global portfolio, we have acknowledged we are probably not the right long-term owner," Mr Johnston said.

The winery, vineyards and grounds will be sold as a going concern as a winemaking business and Kelly country tourist destination.

"At this stage it is hard to predict how long the sales process will take but, in the meantime, the winery will continue to operate as usual," Mr Johnston said.
