In Vino Vertias: Finding truth & history in wine
VESTAL, N.Y. -- Binghamton University's Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies put on a conference that was pretty easy to swallow.
Entitled "In Vino Veritas," the Center's annual two-day event focused on wine and its implications and impact on human history.
Nearly 200 wine spectators, enthusiasts and producers came out to sip, sample and enjoy.
There were guest speakers and a variety of wines from around the Finger Lakes region.
Conference organizers were hoping to tie together the importance of wine in both the past and present.
"We're talking about a global market development that's valued today as part of culture and sociality, and this is an attempt to explain the importance of wine across a broader spectrum," said Karen Barzman, director of BU's Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies.
The conference focused on wine from antiquity through the 18th century and included both international academics and local wine lovers.
