Wine.com Launches Fine Wine Collection
PROVIDES EASY ACCESS AND GREAT PRICES ON COLLECTIBLE AND BOUTIQUE WINES
SAN FRANCISCO, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Wine.com, the nation's #1 online wine retailer, today announced the launch of a fine wine shop. While Wine.com is known for its 90+ point rated under $20 list, the launch of fine wine recognizes a wine-savvy customer that is looking for cellar worthy products.
"Our goal is to be the ultimate resource for the wine enthusiast -- novice and collector alike," said Rich Bergsund, CEO of Wine.com. "With the launch of our fine wine shop, we hope to provide great value and easy access to hundreds of the finest wines in the world."
The Wine.com fine wine collection consists of a mix of collectible and boutique wines. These wines represent small production, limited availability products from some of the world's most prestigious wineries. The company lists a "ratings pedigree," featuring ratings of past vintages as well as printable cellar notes to enrich the collector's experience.
"We recognized that our product mix could better showcase the fine wine that collectors seek," said Michael Osborn, Founder and VP Merchandising at Wine.com. "Wines from Bordeaux, Borolo and the Napa Valley anchor the regions of our cellar worthy selections. The highly sought-after estate wines from the Gaja, Frescabaldi, Guigal, Moueix and Rothschild families are some of the favorites of the Wine.com community," Osborn adds.
Wine.com also launched "Map-It(TM)," a site feature which maps both the vineyard location where the wine is grown, as well as the winery location where the wine is made, for over 9,000 wines on the website. By clicking on the "Map-It" icon, customers can also see the neighboring vineyards and wineries.
"A significant appeal of wine is its sense of place, and that the place, or terroir, enriches the wine experience," said Michael Osborn. "Map-It provides Wine.com customers another dimension for the exploration and enjoyment of wine."
