NEW YORK, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- On Friday, June 19, 2009, Restaurant Associates at The Morgan Dining Room will collaborate with winemaker Barbara Frank of Dr. Konstantin Frank Wine Cellars for an evening of food and wine. Guests will learn how to properly swirl, sniff and taste each glass. In only a couple of hours, diners can develop a better understanding of how to select the perfect wines to complement any meal and hear insight behind matching the flavors. Located in the Finger Lakes region, the award-winning winery has won accolades from Wine Spectator, the New York Times, Wine & Spirits, NBC's Today Show and Food & Wine magazine.
The Morgan Dining Room's Executive Chef Charlene Shade-Walker will pair her classic cuisine with each glass, tailoring an evening for food and wine aficionados. As mentored by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, this award-winning chef develops seasonal menus that reflect The Morgan Library's classic roots. The event's four-course meal consists of Chilled Gazpacho Trio with Chateau Frank Brut 2002, Catskill Mountains Brook Trout with Warm Yukon Gold Potato Salad, Fried Capers and a glass of Rkatsiteli 2006, Spiced Lamb Loin with Summer Vegetables, Mizuna and Apricot paired with Cabernet Franc 2007, and ending with Lemon Souffle Glace, Macerated Peppered Berries and a Semi-Dry Riesling 2007.
The Dr. Konstantin Frank Wine Tasting Dinner begins at 6:00 pm and costs $78 per person, plus sales tax and 20% service charge. The Morgan Dining Room is in the former Morgan family dining room located in the Morgan House. The formal room, featuring the original marble fireplace, marble friezes and intricate moldings, is now decorated with contemporary furnishings for a forty-seat restaurant. The Morgan Dining Room serves a refined and distinctive American menu inspired by turn-of-the-century cuisine. Open Tuesday through Friday noon to 2:30 pm, and Saturday-Sunday 11:00 am to 2:30 pm.
