Cork Wine Bar looks to uncork a new operation in Washington, D.C.
Washington D.C. winos will soon get to browse through whites and reds at a new wine market with a "neighborhood" feel via the folks at Cork Wine Bar.
As reported by Metrocurean, Diane Gross and Khalid Pitts are looking to expand their successful restaurant and wine bar to 1805 14th St. NW, just down the street from their current abode.
Metrocurean reports the husband/wife team hope to open by September or October and sell both high and low-end wines, while keeping the neighborhood vibe. The pair say they'll keep records of your favorite wines and give patrons tasting notes to keep thirsty customers coming back for more.
In addition to wine, specialty items like beer, charcuterie, and carry-out sandwiches/salads will round out the market.
So what makes this expansion different from other neighborhood markets? The space should allow for catering and eventually some classes for the general public.
Does this mean you can have Cork's brioche sandwich and chicken liver bruschetta at your next cocktail party? Or learn the thinking behind the wine flight pairings listed on the restaurant's chalkboard?
Like any good red, no matter how excited we are to try it, we'll have to let the prospect breathe for awhile.
