Bordeaux wine imports to China climbed 35 times in 9 years
China volume growth of Bordeaux wines over the past nine years was strong at 35 times in the past nine years.
Alain Vironneau, the president of CIVB,said that Bordeaux wine export industry was affected last year due to the global financial crisis.
Figures released before showed that Bordeaux wine exports accounted for only one third of total sales in volume, with exports to EU countries slumpping 12%, to US down 3%, only 158000 hl.
However, China market still has strong demand for Bordeaux wine. For 2008, Bordeaux wine export value to China rose to 53 million euro, lifted by 60% year on year. China has ranked the No. 8 export destination country for Bordeaux wine in 2008.
In 2000, the import volume of Bordeaux wines was 2000 hl, which has increased to 69000 hl last year. During the past 9 years, the import volume of Bordeaux wines in China climbed by 35 times.
