WA wine industry latest to criticise new award

WA's Wine Industry Association says a proposed federal wine industry award is flawed.

Association president John Griffiths says the award attempts to bring together workers currently employed under the horticulture, various state wine industry, and even hospitality, awards.

He says the draft award reduces flexibility for employers, and increases their wage bills.

"There's an increase in the casual rates from 20 to 25 per cent, there's a limit on ordinary time being restricted to Monday to Friday, and higher rates of pay compared to the current rates of pay," he says.
