Constellation happy with progress of winery sales

Wine company Constellation Australia, which owns brands like Hardys and Banrock Station, says its winery sell-off is going well.

The company announced plans last year to sell some wineries and vineyards to reduce debt and fruit over-supply.

It says it's sold about a third of the properties on offer.

Sherilee Davies, from Constellation Australia, says that for the vineyards it's having trouble selling, it's taking other action.

"What we are doing, given that some of the vineyards haven't sold, is we are actually taking the action to remove some vines ourselves, from our company-owned vineyards,' she says.

"This is particularly in South Australia, where we'll be removing 180 hectares of vines."
