Wine country landmark to close

The Oregon Wine Tasting Room, a 29-year-old wine bar and store in Yamhill County, will close June 22, its owners said.

Myron Redford, of Amity Vineyards, originally opened the business in the Lawrence Art Gallery on Highway 18, 9 miles southwest of McMinnville. The business is now at 19690 SW Highway 18, which is across the street from its first location. Redford opened the store as means to promote all Oregon wines rather than a specific winery.

During the years, many start-up wineries had their first products placed on its shelves. The store has stocked vintages from more than 200 wineries. Lately, however, the wine bar and store hasn't been attracting enough customers to remain open, said an employee with Amity Vineyards. The Oregon Wine Tasting Room's going out of business sale has begun and will continue until June 22.
