Wine Australia - Landmark Australia
The name says it all. Landmark Australia reflects the Australian fine wine dimension – the ultra-premium collectables that are known and respected around the world. Landmark Australia is by definition neither inclusive nor self-selecting – it is the recognition of some of the leading wines from Australian estates that have harnessed either awards and/or recognition for outstanding excellence in wine style, pedigree and quality. Collectable, renowned ‘conversation’ wines that compare with the very best in the world.
These are the Australian wines to which we all aspire. They are not necessarily old wines, but they are wines with a story to tell that reflect an uncompromising pursuit of viticultural and winemaking excellence.
They are, almost by definition, produced in smaller quantities and purchased to complement the fine dining or exclusive tasting experience.
Positioning: High profile, renowned Australian wines built on inherent quality and world class reputation.
Using tasting reviews, top show results, Langtons classification, peer-group recommendation and third-party advice from the national/international trade and media, the following are examples of Landmark Australia wines (as opposed to wineries):

Landmark Australia events and tastings in market will include some of those wines listed above along with selected wines from younger estates with emerging (as opposed to established) reputations. The challenge is to collate a range of indicative wines that capture the essence of the Landmark Australia category and at the same time provide a credible platform from which to expose further debate and discovery.
Indicative Channels: 80% on trade, 20% off trade. Also an obvious appeal to the secondary market.
