Winery's Animal-Themed Wines Support Rescue League
New Variety Features Cat Up For Adoption Over Winter
BEDFORD, N.H. -- A Nashua winery is helping support the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire with a set of wines that feature animals on their labels.
The Grape Time Winery partnered with the Rescue League in October 2008 to produce five varieties of wine. The label of each bottle features an animal that was at the Rescue League, including cats, dogs and rabbits.
The newest variety is a Granny Smith Riesling that features a watercolor portrait of Sammy, a cat that was up for adoption at the Rescue League over the winter. The portrait was painted by New Boston, N.H., artist Molly Poole.
The Riesling recently won a gold medal at the Indy International Wine Competition. It's available at the Harvest Market in Bedford, the Harvest Market in Hollis, the A Market Natural Foods store in Manchester and Sully's Superette in Goffstown.
A percentage of each sale is donated to the Rescue League.
