Foreign buyers eye Margaret River vineyards

A south-west Western Australian real estate agent says there has been significant interest from international buyers in Margaret River vineyards.

Many growers have been forced to walk away from their properties due to the grape glut and the downturn in the economy.

ACTON South West says it currently has 15 vineyards on the market.

Director Brian Moulton says interest is beginning to pick up.

"The last six weeks we've had quite a lot of inquiry from overseas, from Europe, Singapore, China, quite a bit of inquiry out of India, but it's only inquire," he said.

"People are looking, and strangely enough there's been quite a few business groups and corporate entities from Perth looking."
