 Hong Kong - Acker Merrall & Condit is pleased to announce its third wine auction this year in Hong Kong, to take place on 19 September 2009 at the Island Shangri-La Hotel. 

 

The 1,200-lot sale will feature over 8,300 bottles of some of the world’s greatest wines and champagnes, expected to realize in excess of HK$40 million (US$5 million).  It features three private collections including the largest selection of highly sought-after Burgundy from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti ever to appear at auction in Asia, the best Bordeaux from the past 25 years, and ancient French treasures featuring 1945 and 1959 Château Latour in original wooden cases (OWC).

A Superlot of Twelve Cases of DRC Assortments of 12 Consecutive Vintages

Leading the sale is a superlot of 12 consecutive vintages (1990-2001) of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Assortments, including the 2001 vintage which is last vintage that the Domaine ever made in 12-bottle assortments, making this lot all the more collectible(estimate:HK$2,000,000-2,400,000/US$240,000-350,000) (illustrated left). 

 

The sale also features a number of rare large format DRC offerings, including a Jeroboam of 1985 Romanée-Conti (estimate: HK$240,000-320,000/US$30,000-40,000) and two magnums of 1971 Romanée-Conti (each estimated at HK$144,000-200,000/US$18,000-24,000)

 

An Extraordinary Private Collection of Burgundy and Bordeaux

The sale will present a spectacular collection of Burgundy and Bordeaux valued at over HK$7 million (US$ 1 million) from a passionate collector who has built one of the largest collections in the world over the past decade. 

 

The collection features a remarkable offering from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, including a case of 1990 La Tâche in banded, original wooden case (estimate: HK$320,000- 400,000 / US$40,000-50,000). 3 magnums of 2005 Romanée-Conti is a further highlight (estimate: HK$480,000-640,000/US$60,000-80,000) (illustrated right). 

It also includes a wide range of blue-chip Bordeaux showcasing an extensive selection of Château Lafleur and Château Pétrus.   Highlights include 12 bottles of 1989 Château Lafleur in original case (estimate: HK$80,000-120,000/US$10,000-15,000) and 12 bottles of 1989 Château Pétrus (estimate: HK$ 200,000-280,000/US$26,000-35,000).

 

Also on offer are some of the top Champagnes of recent years: 6 bottles of Krug Vintage Champagne 1996 Clos du Mesnil (estimate: HK$38,000-60,000/US$4,800-7,500), and 6 magnums of Louis Roederer Cristal Rose Vintage Champagne 1988 (estimate: HK$48,000-64,000/ US$6,000-8,000).

 

A Massive Collection of the Best Bordeaux of the Past 25 Years

A superb and massive collection of over 140 lots of the best Bordeaux of the past 25 years, offering an extraordinary opportunity to acquire some of the best Bordeaux of our lifetime. 

Highlights from this collection are 12 bottles of 1998 Château Pétrus in their original wooden case (estimate: HK$200,000-220,000/US$22,000-28,000) (illustrated left), 6 bottles of 1961 Château La Mission Haut Brion in outstanding color and condition (estimate:  HK$104,000-128,000/US$13,000-16,000), and 12 bottles of 1986 Château Lafite Rothschild in their original wooden case (estimate: HK$72,000-96,000/ US$9,000-12,000).

Of particular note is an exceptional collection of ancient French treasures, which has never before left France until being offered for auction in Hong Kong.
