Rare ice wines become new favorite in Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival

Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most traditional festival in China. Icewine is more and more popular in this year’s holiday season. It has become a new fashion on reunion feast.
 
According to Chenzhuan, the wine expert, icewine is a kind of premium wine. There are two reasons behind its popularity on Mid-Autumn Festival. First, it tastes sweet with rich acid, which well matches with sweet and fat moon cake. Second, icewine is very rare, Chinese would like to share it with family for the most important reunion occation.
 
In supermarkets, icewines were displayed along with moon cake at most attracting places. There are icewines from Canadian , Germany, as well as local Changyu Icewines from Golden Icewine Valley, ranging from several dozen RMB to over RMB1000.  According to Chen, a bottle of genuine icewine is usually priced over RMB 200. 
 
Changyu Icewine won "Best Buy "Award at SIAL (France International Food and Beverage Expo) on May 18. It is also the only Chinese winners in this competition In August, Changyu Icewine defeated almost 1000 wines all over the world in this year’s " Wine "magazine” competition and was awarded " 2009 Best Wine ", it is also the only icewine won the prize in this event. Industry sources believe, the international recognition will further promote sale of ice wine in China's market.
