Local Vineyard Holds Wine Stomping Event

Hundreds of Central Illinoisans flocked to the Mackinaw Valley Vineyard to stomp grapes and drink wine on Sep 6.

This was the second annual Grape Stomp and Harvest Festival.

Spectators ate food, and sampled and bought a variety of wines made at the Vineyard... but many say the best part is the grape stomp.

Grape Stomping Sisters Phyl and Dorean say, "Stomping grapes and watching everybody. The last weekend of anything, it's the end of summer, it gets everybody together, we have a good time. Fun way to end the season."

Vineyard owner Paul Hahn says, "September is Illinois wine month. A lot of people don't know so we're celebrating Illinois wine month, and why not better than a harvest festival and grape stomp."

The event is only going on until six tonight, so if you miss it this year, the vineyard owners say come out next year during wine month when the summer winds down.
