New drinking spot for Hong Kong
A new bar with an ‘Old China’ has opened in Hong Kong’s Wyndham Street, offering visitors a sophisticated space for casual drinking and cocktail sipping.
Yun Fu, the Raise the Red Lantern-style Chinese restaurant run by the aqua restaurant group, has unveiled a new drinking dimension with the Yun Bar.
The new bar accentuates the restaurant’s China theme with seductive lounge areas dimly lit by traditional red lanterns and adorned with traditional furniture and Buddhist artifacts along the city’s hottest bar street.
Guests are invited to sprawl across comfortable bed sofas lined with endless silk scatter cushions with billowing drapes and Hadda silks diving seating spaces into private cosy corners by flickering candlelight.
The essential Yun Fu concept remains - its heavy oak door street entrance descends down a Buddha-lined staircase opening up into to a sprawling 5,000 square-foot space, with a circular bar and the new lounge rooms.
The style of the lounge areas encourages guests to settle in for the night in the intimate and quintessential Chinese ‘front room’ to enjoy a range of sophisticated cocktails created from traditional recipes from the far reaches of northern and western China.
On the unique Chinese cocktail menu will be three stand out signature drinks each respectful of their traditional roots.
Pui Mu, a decadent rice wine infused plum cocktail mixed with refreshing cranberry juice; Bo Ba a green bamboo wine mixed with triple sec sugar syrup and tart grapefruit juice and Mi Ya Luo a brown rice based wine blended with a sweet and sour passion fruit syrup and spite.
A line-up of exciting and well-known visiting DJs take to the decks from 22:00 and classic martial arts movies will be projected on its circular screen in the main bar area.
In the main dining room of the restaurant, there are now three semi private dining areas separated by sheer voiles and screens with hanging lanterns lowly slung over each table for private dinner parties of up to six people.
Yun Fu opens daily for dinner from 18:00 to midnight, Hong Kong time. Yun Bar will be open from 17:00 to midnight Mondays to Thursdays, 18:00 to 02:00 Fridays and Saturdays and 18:00 to midnight on Sundays.
