Nov. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Australia, experiencing its worst grape and wine glut for 20 years, should remove 20 percent of the nation’s vines, industry groups said, according to the West Australian newspaper.
At least 17 percent of the nation’s vineyard capacity is uneconomic, the Winemakers Federation of Australia, Wine Grape Growers Australia, the Australian Wine & Brandy Corp. and Grape & Wine Research & Development Corp. said in an industry update released yesterday, the paper said.
Some 20 percent of grape growers should plant other crops, it said.
