China Imported 130 million liters of Wine in 3 Qs

Statistics released by Customs show that in the first quarter of this year, China’s wine imports registered a 4.4% decrease in volume terms to 130 million liters, which were valued at 550 million USD, down 10.3% year on year . The average price of imported wine slumped 6.2%, to $4.2 a liter.
 
·China’s wine imports in September reached the peak since January, 2008. The volume jumped by 86.3% in September, to 24.424 million liters, comparing to the same period of last year.
 
·EU , Chile and Aaustralia are the leading wine import markets of China. During the first three quarters this year , China’s wine imports from EU was down 0.6% year on year , to 51.4 million liters; Chile decreased by 24.8 to 32.45 million liters; Australia jumped by 180% , to 31.25  million liters. Wine imports volume of the above three countries accounted for 88.1% of the total China’s wine imports .
 
·During the first three quarters this year, bottled wine imports (not more than 2L) lifted by 52%, to 63.27 million liters, which accounted for the 48.4% of China’s total wine imports. Bottled wine imports (more than 2L) decreased by 29.5% to 57.65 million liters, which took up 44.1 percent of Chinals wine import share.
