Hong Kong - Acker Merrall & Condit is pleased to announce its fourth wine auction this year in Hong Kong, to be held on 7 November 2009 at the Island Shangri-La Hotel.

Featuring 1,100 lots with an estimated total value of HK$30 million, the sale promises to be another exciting weekend of wines with Acker Merrall & Condit. Two spectacular private collections highlight this great sale: the first one comes from Wilfred Jaeger, one of the world’s top ten collectors, and the second features more of the modern-day classics and some of the greatest 2000 Bordeaux.

John Kapon, Acker Merrall & Condit’s President and Auction Director, said: “Following the tremendous success of our September sale which was 100% sold, we are very excited to be coming back in November to hold our fourth wine auction in Hong Kong this year.   We are very privileged to offer a super collection from one the world’s greatest and most renowned collectors, Wilfred Jaeger.   This represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for wine collectors to acquire some of the rarest and most treasured wines with impeccable provenance.”

“The Hong Kong Government’s abolition of wine duty in 2008 has given a great boost to the market and we are thrilled to see that Hong Kong has recently overtaken London as the second-most important wine auction centre in the world, after New York.  Since our inaugural sale in Hong Kong in May 2008, we have held five highly successful live auctions and one Internet auction here.  As America’s oldest wine merchant and the world’s leading wine auction house, we are fully committed to further developing our business in Hong Kong and strengthening Hong Kong’s position as the wine capital of Asia and the world.”

Clients can view images and download the auction catalogue at www.ackerasia.com, as well as being able to register, search and bid online.  A real-time bidding service will be offered at the auction and wine lovers from around the world may bid live over the Internet simply by registering at bidlive@ackerwines.com.
