Incomparable Medoc Tasting Held in Shanghai
Incomparable Medoc Tasting begun in Shanghai on October 26, 2009 after the tasting was held in Guangzhou, Chengdu and Xiamen. Delegates from eight AOC participated in the tasting.
Mr. Philippe Dambrine, Chairman of Industry Association in Medoc introduced that they have held promotion activities for three times in China. With the continuous expansion of Chinese market, they choose 5 cities to hold the promotion activity this year instead of the original three cities, namely, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
In recent year, the amount of wine exported from France to China keeps rising. Since 2006, its growth rate has nearly doubled. China takes the 11th place in the amount of wine exported from Bordeaux area and Medoc area. According to statistics, 20% of Bordeaux wine exported to China are from Medoc area. Its value accounts for 50% of the total. Among wine exported to China from France, 34% are Grand Cru Classe wine and top-end wine, among which 2/3 are from Bordeaux area. Around 10,000 bottles of wine are exported to China from Medoc area. In 2008, amount of wine exported to China from Medoc area has increased by 14%.
