Goelet restructuring
The Goelet family has restructured Goelet Wine Estates to coordinate all production, sales, distribution, marketing and financial operations under a board of directors, to whom Adam Torpy will report as CEO.
The GWE portfolio includes Clos Du Val (Napa Valley); Taltarni Vineyards (Victoria, Australia); Clover Hill (Australia) and Domaine de Nizas (Languedoc, France).
Bernard Portet, who has been instrumental in the site selection, philosophical guidance and winemaking direction for all of the properties since the company’s inception, will remain involved in the production and positioning of each of the wineries. The winemakers from each winery, however, bring their own style and winemaking perspective to the mix: John Clews of Clos du Val; Bernard Meunier of Domaine de Nizas and Loic Le Calvez of Taltarni.
Torpy has more than 13 years of wine industry experience and has developed, operated and managed several ultra-premium brands and sales and marketing divisions. Since 2005, he has served as CEO for Taltarni, a position he will relinquish with the change.
The Goelet family has owned and operated Clos Du Val and Taltarni Vineyards since the early 1970s. They founded Clover Hill in 1986 and acquired Domaine de Nizas in the 1990s.
