Well-known local wine consultant and educator, John Challender, will be leading courses on wine appreciation offered by North Island College at the Comox Valley Campus through the Continuing Education and ElderCollege programs during the winter semester.

The Continuing Education course, called Steeped in Wine, will run every Wednesday evening in February, beginning Feb. 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. Registration can be done anytime on the website at www.nic.bc.ca/continuingeducation or in person at the registration office on the campus.

The ElderCollege course, entitled The World of Wine, will start on Friday, Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon and will run for six weeks. The ElderCollege course is available to members only and registration will open for all ElderCollege courses at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 18 online at www.nic.bc.ca/eldercollege or at the registration office on campus.

Challender has created interesting courses that have been well received in the past by people from the hospitality industry, the wine production industry, the wine retail industry and by people just wanting to gain a better understanding of wine. — ElderCollege
