QUICK BITES: Finally, full-service Chinese food

By Julio Diaz  2010-1-28 18:04:35

For years, readers have been telling me that one of the major things they think we've been missing on the Pensacola culinary scene is a full-service Chinese restaurant. And I've agreed emphatically — until now.

Shark Fin is now open and 5912-C N. Davis Highway, behind Rooms to Go and Miller's Pensacola Ale House at the corner of Davis and Airport Boulevard. And a quick look at the menu suggests that this is just what I — and many of you — have been missing.

Frankly, they won me over with one line on the menu: garlic stir fry broccoli. This is my favorite Chinese dish, bar none, and while I've had some decent takeout versions in Pensacola, it's not a common buffet item, so I've largely done without for quite some time. I can't wait to taste Shark Fin's version.

The menu features a wide variety of seafood, chicken, beef, vegetarian and pork dishes, appetizers, soups and salads. And if there's someone in your party that's not a Chinese fan, they can accommodate with selections from the grill, including filet mignon, New York strip and grilled pork chops.

Shark Fin is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Details: 912-8669.
