China's wine importers participate in international procurement at VINISUD 2010

On February 22, the annual VINISUD 2010 opened in Montpellier, capital of Languedoc - Roussillon in southern France. A league of  Chinese wine importers, led by Liu Yuan, vice president and Secretary-General of China Wine Communication Association attended the opening ceremony.

"China Wine News" reporter saw more and more Chinese importers began participating in international exchanges and wine procurement at the fair.

According to Cen Ling, chairman of Shanghai Loong Int’I Trade Co.,Ltd, Roussillon is the oldest wine growing region in France, the ancient Greeks moved here and started planting grapes since the sixth century BC. The wines in this region are priced moderate, and their tastes are more suitable for Chinese consumers.

Shanghai Loong Int’I Trade Co.,Ltd is one of Chinese importers designated by the Government Languedoc - Roussillon.

According to the Fair organizer, China has become one of the main target market for southern France (Sud de France) wine brands.

There are 50 people in the league of Chinese wine importer, among which are three official importer of southern France. The three companies’ wine imports from southern France reached 100 containers (900 million bottles) in 2009.
