China's Wine Consumption to boom in 2010

A lot of consumers had to spend less on wine, which leads to the production and sales of wine heading south. However, China's wine industry keeps favourable development during the Great Recession. Statistics showed that China's wine production increased by 40.8% to 418 thousand tons from China's Wine Consumption Expected to boom in 2010

Statistics showed that China's wine production increased by 40.8% to 418 thousand tons from January to July in 2009. Industry experts said that wine consumption in China is expected to boom in 2010 with the expansion of wine consumers.

According to the latest research from Vinexpo, China will become the seventh biggest wine consuming country in the world by 2012, with wine consumption expected to rise 36% to 1 billion bottles. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Chengdu are the leading wine consumption cities in China mainland. France is still the largest source country of China's wine imports.
