A garden party has raised $1000 to plant more totara trees at Totara Reserve in the Pohangina Valley.
Pohangina Valley Estate co-owner Fiona McMorran said the fundraiser was held to continue replanting the reserve, which was damaged by flooding and a severe winter in 2004.
Last year, the vineyard donated $1 a bottle of Pohangina Red for the replanting of totara at the reserve. Pohangina Red is a beaujolais or picnic-style wine.
About 85 people attended the party in gardens overlooking the vineyard, Ms McMorran said. It was the first time the estate had hosted the event.
Ms McMorran owns the winery with her brother and sister-in-law Nick and Bronwyn Dymock.
