Ramondin Capsules has purchased the metal capsule division of the German company VKN. The company will continue to provide production and service to the customers who have been using the tin capsules of VKN, according to Ramondin’s director of sales Jon Iguíñiz, who is working with the reorganization and sales integration of the German company into the structure of Ramondin.

VKN was the world leader in metal capsules and technology in the 1970’s. The company was founded in 1868 and was acquired by the French group Sparflex in December of 2005, when its CEO Heinz von Opel retired from office. In May 2009, after financial difficulties, a judicial administrator took control of the company and began bankruptcy proceedings.

VKN, during the last decade positioned itself as an important competitor in the world of metal capsules. In a press release, Ramondín said it "has always shared the business philosophy in which the value of the company is the combination of the talent of its employees, along with innovative processes in the production of metal capsules."

In the late seventies, Ramondín acquired several VKN machines for use in capsule decoration. In the hands of the technicians at Ramondin, these machines helped give rise to the company’s technical mastering of capsule decoration, paints, metal smelting, lamination and two-piece capsules- all of which have been developing and improving strongly in the last 20 years.
