Proceeds of Hermitage Wine’s Wine appreciation event to be donated to charity
Profits from the auction of the charity gala dinner, guided by wine-critic Robert Parker Junior, will be donated to the NUH Patient Care Charity Fund.
Robert Parker Junior, world renowned wine-critic and the creator of the Parker Point system, will be in Singapore on the 2nd to the 3rd of May 2010 as part of Hermitage Wines’ “The Ultimate Parker in Asia Event”, a three day wine appreciation event for wine connoisseurs.
In one of his rare public appearances in Asia, Parker will be in Singapore for an exclusive book signing on the 2nd of May, and will be the distinguished guide at a charity gala dinner on the 3rd of May which will be attended by wine connoisseurs and renowned societal figures.
The gala dinner, titled “Les Fruits de la Vigne”, or fruits of the vine, is the 3rd in an annual series of exclusive dinners organised by Hermitage Wines with a focus on exploring fine wine. This year will be the first time that the proceeds from a wine and lifestyle auction will be donated to a charity: the NUH Patient Care Charity Fund (PCF) which provides financial assistance to financially disadvantaged patients and their families in Singapore.
Mr Soo Hoo, one of the two founders of Hermitage Wines, said, “We chose to work with NUH PCF because we know that the money we raise will help disadvantaged patients and families directly. Our customers are always committed to giving back to society, and an event such as this, combining luxury and philanthropy, will be a very good way to do that.”
Held at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore’s Ballroom, this premiere event will host 400 guests from the top of Singapore’s social scene. Emmanuel Stroobant, the award-winning “Chef in Black” based in Singapore, will be preparing an exquisite five course meal together with a team of four resident chefs of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, led by Executive Chef Morne Van Antwerp. These dishes will be specially selected to be paired with eight of Robert’s “100 Point” wines, with Parker discussing and sharing his views on what makes these wines special to the guests.
Mr Soo Hoo added, “Hermitage wines have always been committed to bringing the best wines in the world and to allow our customers to experience the lifestyle and learn about wine. What better way to achieve that then by having one of the most influential wine-critics in the world guide you through eight wines he has praised as rated ‘100 points’ while you taste them with an exquisite cuisine menu prepared by the two world class chefs.”
Parker will also be at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore on the 2nd of May for a book signing event during the Grand Tasting session. Around 2000 wine connoisseurs are expected to attend the grand tasting, which will feature 100 exclusive wineries from around the world. Participants will be able to interact and learn more about wines direct from the producers. This 2 day event will also feature Master Classes by international wine experts who will discuss the finer points of wine appreciation with their audiences.
