Harpers to discuss UK's role in global wine market at LWIF

The UK's position in the global wine market will be the subject of the Harpers Debate at this year's London International Wine Fair.

With increasing costs of entry to the UK, made worse by higher levels of duty and price discounting, producers are questioning more than ever their position in the UK market.

This year's Harpers Debate, on March 19, 11.30am-12.45pm, will look to address this issue under the theme: "What the UK needs to do to make it a viable market for global wine producers".

Speakers will include: Rowan Gormley, Naked Wines, which is looking to cut costs of entry to the UK by linking producers direct to consumers in the UK. Mark Calver at Hatch Mansfield, will look at how its partner producers(which include Errazuriz and Villa Maria) look to work in the UK, Neil Bruce, WaverleyTBS will analyse the implications the changing marketplace is having on the on-trade sector, and Richard Hitchcock of Bottle Green will discuss the ways in which it is working with global producers in the UK.
