Marlborough producer ARA has this week announced the appointment of a new business development executive to lead its market growth in the New South Wales off-premise channel.

Sophie Warner joins Ara after working in sales and account management for Moet Hennessy Australia, managing key on-premise accounts in the Sydney CBD including independent and national retailers.

“It’s very exciting to be on board with a family-owned company who is seeking to develop the next generation of Marlborough wines,” she said.

“The opportunity to deliver a fresh new brand to the market, especially within the current climate, will be a very challenging but hopefully a rewarding experience.”

Commercial director Sue Henderson says the appointment will provide ARA customers with a higher level of service and industry understanding.

“Sophie brings a wealth of knowledge to the role with diverse experience in the Australian and international wine market,” Sue said.

“We required a person who would assist our distributors in the market as a brand ambassador for on-premise and business development within the independent retail channel, and Sophie fitted the bill perfectly.”

Ara is a 1600-hectare single terrace sub-region, nine kilometres long and two wide, bounded either side by fresh water or the hills of Waihopai Valley.

Vineyards in Ara predominantly grow Sauvignon Banc and Pinot Noir.
