Zhu Sixu, the Chairman of Guangdong Wine Association, believes that China will become the center of Asian wine consumption in 2020 and Asia will take up more share on wine production.

He listed three facts to support his view. First, China’s beer consumption is only 3,000,000 hectolitres in 1980s, but now our beer production rose to 423,600,000 hectolitres, ranked No. 1 in the world after 30 years, for Chinese people to accept the drink needs a period. Whereas the time from the birth of China’s first dry red wine up to 2020 is also more than 30 years. Second, there are 6,230,000 mus grapes are planted in China, but only 800,000 mus are wine grape. That is to say, China’s grape production is 6,070,000 tons, only 15% are used for wine making. So there is great potential on grape plantation and wine production. Finally, In recent years, china's wine production has been in close to 30% rate of annual growth. If keeping this pace, in the next eight to ten years, china's wine production will rise to 73,800,000 hectolitres, this figure is very significant.

According to Zhu Sixu, as consumers getting more and more mature, there will be an end to the windfall profit in China’s wine market in 2 or 3 years. At the same time, wine investment in China will be more popular, and there are also diversifies ways of wine marketing.
