US exported $36 million of wine to China in 2009

American wine has been a significant part in China’s imported wine market.

According to Lu ronghua, director of Shanghai Wine Monopoly Bureau, despite American wines are not very popular in China, the statistics shows that American wines ranked third in Shanghai market, ahead of Italian and Spanish wines.

From 2001 to 2009, imported wine consumption in Shanghai market rose more than 100%.

According to the San Francisco-based Wine Institute, US exported $36 million of wine to China in 2009.
