China wines lag far behind foreign competitors
Zhu Sixu, the Chairman of Guangdong Wine Association, believes that the quality of Chinese wines to catch up imported wines maybe needs 8-10 years.
He said, China has a rather short history for wine consumption. From the birth of China’s first dry red wine up to now, it is only more than 20 years. In fact, China’s vines are very young. Besides, we are lack of rules and regulations on every aspects. Take the wine chateau for an example, no doubt there is a big gap between China and other countries.
There is also a cost performance difference between wines from China and other countries. “Chinese wines lag far behind imported wines. There is a long way for Chinese wines to catch up the quality of imported wines, 2 or 3 years is not enough, maybe needs 8-10 years.
