Foster's to give final decision of de-merger next year

Foster's Group Ltd has said that by April 2011, it will be making a final decision on whether to de-merger its wine and beer business into two separate companies or not.

The global beverage company said that the decision is dependent on the decision of the board and also the final assessment of the benefits that the shareholders will be receiving.

While talking to the reporters during the AGM, Foster's Chairman, David Craword said that the de-merger is being considered and that the final decision can be taken only after looking at all the possibilities. Then it would be put in front of the shareholders and it is only after they give their final nod that something concrete can be done on the same.

If at all the de-merger happens, there are greater possibilities that it would be done in the first half of 2011 and not later than that. And if that timetable is to be followed then the proposal will be put in front of the shareholders around March and April, 2011.

When asked if he has got any takeover bid, David said that there have been none.
