Rockburn Strikes Gold in Hong Kong

Rockburn Wines' Pinot Noir 2009 has struck gold at the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition.
The competition is widely considered by producers and consumer alike to be the voice of the Asian wine market, with judging chaired by UK writer and TV personality Tim Aitken (MW).
Rockburn's winemaker, Malcolm Rees-Francis, commented. “This is a fantastic result for our 2009 Pinot Noir – This wine is picking up some real momentum on the international stage, and once again places Central Otago at the forefront of great Pinot Noir regions, which was exemplified by the „09 vintage; a classic for Central Otago. With excellent concentration and character evident in the wines. The Rockburn „09 Pinot is already showing great complexity, poise and grace and it can only improve with age.”
Rockburn's Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from its two vineyard sites at Gibbston and Parkburn in Central Otago.
The latest vintage of Rockburn Wines' Pinot Noir has continued a proud tradition of success.
The 2009 Pinot Noir has won the award for 'Best Pinot Noir' and the Trophy for; 'Wine of Show' at the Association of Australian Boutique Winemakers Awards 2010.
'Best Pinot Noir Trophy' at the Shanghai International Wine Challenge 2010.
As well as a finalist at this years Sydney Top 100 Wine Competition.
Over the previous ten years, Rockburn Wines have consistently won gold medals and trophies for their Pinot Noirs including the trophy for „Champion Pinot Noir? at the 2008 Air New Zealand Awards.
Rockburn will be releasing its 2009 Pinot Noir for sale in New Zealand in January 2011.
