China's Wine Industry to Blossom in 10 Years
BEIJING - China's wine industry may enter a heyday in 10 years as it is winning more and more popularity in the country.
A report by the China Non-staple Food Circulation Association (CNFCA) shows that China's wine production had maintained 18.8 per cent annual growth for seven years in a row and the industry is showing great potential.
This rapid development can be seen from the growing number of wine shops in major Chinese cities, and the increase in producers and importers.
Based on data from the China Investment Consulting Corp., China's wine imports during the first six months of the year jumped 70 per cent year on year.
According to the China Alcoholic Drinks Association, in 2009 China imported 171,000 liters of wine, and in the first half of 2010 imported a total of 120,700 million liters, up 67.7 per cent year on year.
