Chocolate pairs with wine — and even beer — for Valentine's weekend

Cozy up with red wine and chocolate to warm up your winter and kick off Valentine's Day at events around Western Washington this weekend.

Spend the evening at Woodinville wineries or tour Bainbridge Island, Whidbey Island or Olympic Peninsula wineries Saturday and Sunday for wine paired with chocolate treats.

Woodinville's Thursday tour includes 14 wineries, with additional events at several Woodinville wineries Saturday and Sunday. Or visit any or all of seven wineries each on Bainbridge and Whidbey Islands, and eight Olympic Peninsula wineries in Port Townsend, Port Angeles and Sequim. All have Saturday and Sunday events.

Several local wine shops and tasting rooms also offer red wine and chocolate events this weekend. And for craft beer fans, Chocofest at Pike Brewing pairs chocolate treats with various beers, wines, meads and spirits Thursday.
