UK Spanish wine trade welcomes new Caballeros

Mariano Garcia Fernandez, of the Mauro Group and Carlos Read, from Moreno Wine have been honoured as Caballeros, for their hard work and dedication to Spanish wine industry.

Over 350 of the UK Spanish wine trade, welcomed the two new members into the ranks of the Gran Orden de Caballeros, an association set up 27 years ago to honour those whose hard work and dedication to Spanish wine that merits special attention.

Fernandez, is general director and winemaker of the Mauro Group and Read, is buying director at Moreno Wine.

María José Sevilla, director Food and Wines from Spain, said: "We are delighted to welcome our new Caballeros and are especially pleased to have the largest turnout yet for our annual Caballeros dinner.

"Given the economic situation we all find ourselves in this is a true endorsement of Spain's importance to the British wine trade and long may it continue!"

2011 also saw the chairmanship of the Gran Orden pass from Allan Cheesman to Nick Room of Waitrose.
