The Hess Collection has appointed Bill Shenas Director, National Accounts & Exports, overseeing on and off-premise national accounts and an ever expanding roster of export markets, with particular attention to Canada.

Shenas joined The Hess Collection in 1998 as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Sales Manager and was promoted in 2004 to oversee National on-premise accounts, later adding responsibility for Canadian sales.

Earlier, he worked as a wholesaler and for several other wineries in a career in wine that stretches over three decades.

“When I decided to enter the wine business it was a true hobby,” said Shenas, “and I believed then, and still do, that if I could make a living doing something I enjoyed as a hobby I would be a very lucky person.

“At the end of each day I look at my glass and it’s always half full.”

Shenas will oversee the entire Hess Family Estates portfolio, which includes The Hess Collection from Napa, specializing in Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay from Mount Veeder; Artezin, specializing in Zinfandel and heirloom varietals from the North Coast; Sequana Vineyards, offering Pinot Noir from Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley and the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey; along with Glen Carlou from Paarl, South Africa; Peter Lehmann of the Barossa, Australia; and high altitude vineyard specialists Colomé and Amalaya from Argentina. Hess Family Estates also imports and markets Brancaia from Tuscany.
