Mont Rochelle Mountain Vineyards has launched its Mont Rochelle Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2010, following the excellent performance of the 2009 vintage, which was sold out at the beginning of this year. Like its predecessor, the new vintage also scored a coveted 4-Star John Platter rating.

Blended by winemaker Dustin Osborne (29), the wine is crafted along a classic European style, comprising of 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Semillon. All Sauvignon Blanc grapes used were grown on the Mont Rochelle farm, showcasing the top quality fruit produced here on the slopes of the Franschhoek Mountains.

The Mont Rochelle Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2010 is a delightful ‘food’ wine with a classic light straw colour that is complemented by powerful guava, granadilla, passion fruit, and pineapple aromas, with slight herbaceous buchu undertones. Its classic mouth feel portrays pleasant citrus nuances with clean focused minerality and acidity and creaminess.

6300 Bottles of the Mont Rochelle Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2010 have been produced and the wine is available from leading wine shops and restaurants. It is also for sale at the Cellar Door (R60 per bottle) or may be enjoyed at Mont Rochelle’s fine dining restaurant, Mange Tout and the more informal Country Kitchen - the two restaurants where it is perfectly matched stylistically and structurally to the world-class cuisine produced here.

Mange Tout Executive chef Leigh Trout recommends the wine with either the Butternut Pasta with Goats Cheese, Tonka Bean and Sage Chips, or the Lemon Chicken Ballottine with Sautéed Artichokes, Cucumber Noodles and Salsa Verde.

Mont Rochelle’s impressive list of wine accolades includes being named winner in the Great Wine Capitals Best of Wine Tourism Awards 2008 & 2009 for Accommodation & Best Restaurant 2009 and scooping a coveted GOLD rating in the Diners Club International Wine list of the year awards for 2009. Mont Rochelle scored GOLD at the Monde Selection Bruxelles 2009 for both the Mont Rochelle Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 and the Mont Rochelle Syrah 2004 while its MIKO Chardonnay Sur Lie 2006 received a SILVER rating at the Chardonnay du Monde (France) in 2008.

Mont Rochelle wines are available at the Cellar Door and at other leading restaurants and specialist wine shops in SA. They are currently also available in the UK, Holland, Ireland, Belgium, Russia, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Hong Kong and Japan.
