NAPA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Expanding its base of trade promotion clients, Benson Marketing Group has been retained by the Conseil Interprofessional des Vins du Languedoc (CIVL) for a multi-year campaign in the United States.

Established in 1994, the CIVL represents vintners and negociants producing wines from the 32 Languedoc AOCs. (www.languedoc-wines.com). Starting this year, Languedoc AOCs will be divided into three main categories.

The US campaign will communicate the simplified AOC structure using creative new programs designed to drive sales. “These wines offer incredible value and new discoveries from one of France’s most dynamic regions,” said Jeremy Benson, president, Benson Marketing Group. “We plan to connect producers, importers, retailers, restaurateurs and wine lovers into an integrated campaign of attractive promotions, useful sales tools, digital media and exciting events,” he added. The campaign will be managed out of Benson’s New York office with significant interaction with its Napa-based team.

The three AOC categories start with the “AOC Languedoc” designation, which includes wines for everyday drinking, and comprise 30% of AOC wines from Languedoc. At the heart of the range, and comprising 60% of the region’s total AOC production, the “Grands Vins” of Languedoc include wines from the AOCs of Minervois, Corbières, Saint Chinian, Malepère, Faugères, Cabardès, some of the former Coteaux du Languedoc terroirs like Picpoul de Pinet, all sweet Muscats, and the sparkling wines of Limoux. At the summit, the “Grands Crus” of Languedoc include Minervois La Livinière, Corbières Boutenac, Saint Chinian Roquebrun, Saint Chinian Berlou, Terrasses du Larzac, Grès de Montpellier, Pic Saint Loup, Pézenas, La Clape and the still white wines of Limoux.
