Nine newly opened cultural industry projects in Taishan district, Shandong province, are proving popular among tourists this spring.

Taishan Fantawild Adventure Park, one of the nine, has achieved pre-tax profits of 100 million yuan since put into operation half a year ago. The park is now actively applying to become a demonstration base for national cultural industries. Other projects, such as Taishan Beer Zodiac Garden, opened on July 2010, and Taishan Colorful Time, an ecological scenic spot opened on August 2010, are also bustling with tourists.

Since last year, Taishan district has been focusing its attention on the development of five culture industries—cultural tours, performing arts & entertainment, radio & television, cultural creativity, and art trading. So far, besides the nine projects that have already been put into operation, eight projects with a total investment of 7.5 billion yuan are under construction. The go-ahead has also been given to a further four, with an investment of 1.6 billion yuan. Negotiations are still underway on another four projects, bringing an expected investment of 1.2 billion yuan, and investment plans are currently being drawn up for ten more project proposals, with an expected investment of 3.8 billion yuan.
