Haut-Brion on the up

Haut-Brion has been seeing some encouraging levels of trade, with interest – and subsequently prices – rising steadily.

haut-brion.jpgLiv-ex reports that Haut-Brion 1995 was one of February’s top performers, rising 11% from £3,945 a case on 18 February to £4,382 by 25 February.

Looking at price movements of the last 10 physical vintages between 31 July 2010 and 31 January 2011, Liv-ex report that Haut-Brion has had an average price movement of 27.7%, meaning it has outperformed both Mouton and Lafite.

The estate still remains much lower in price than its first growth counterparts and it appears to be “off” vintages such as 2001, 2004 and 2007 that are being snapped up for appealing prices, while vintages such as 2000 and 2005 show lower returns.
