Largest contingent of international visitors from Germany

The 45th Vinitaly, the largest wine trade fair in Italy, which took place in Verona from 7. to 11. April, has ended with a new record number of international visitors attending. Of the total of around 156.000 visitors to the show, around a third came from outside Italy, representing a growth of three per cent compared to 2010.

Germany was the source of the largest number of international visitors, ahead of the USA and Canada, Great Britain, Switzerland, France and Austria. In addition, many importers from Eastern Europe, Russia, China and Hong Kong attended the fair. In spite of the dramatic developments in Japan, the number of visitors from this important Asian market remained stable, report the organisers of the fair. „We are currently considering a special initiative to help the people of Japan“, said Giovanni Mantovani, director general of VeronaFiere, the organisers.

The 46th Vinitaly takes place in Verona from 1. to 4. April 2012.
